Three prerequisites before you dive into your health insurance journey

1. Age Proof – This is an essential document that a customer needs to provide in order to buy a health insurance policy. This is because there are various policies that have an entry age limit.

Additionally, a policy’s premium amount is determined as per the insured’s age. An age proof document may be in the form of any of the following: Voter’s ID card, Pan Card, Aadhar Card, Driving License, Passport, or Birth Certificate.

2. Address Proof – Undeniably a vital document, an address proof will aid the insurer in sending physical copies of the policy and other essential communication to the verified postal address of the insured.

The customer can provide any of the following as valid address proof: Ration Card, Telephone Bill, Electricity Bill, Passport, Voter’s ID, or Bank Account Statement.

3. Medical Reports – The insurer must be provided with the medical reports of a prospective policyholder because certain health insurance policies do not cover some pre-existing diseases of the insured.

Thus, the insurer makes sure that the prospective policyholder goes through a medical examination and submits the reports of the same. This helps the insurer in verifying the medical status of the customer.
